The native range of this species is S. China to Nansei-shoto and Indo-China. It grows primarily in a wet tropical biome. Small, teardrop-shaped leaves are spirally arranged on yellowish-brown stems. Tiny, white male and female flowers emerge on the same plant and hang below the foliage. Prefers partial sun to partial shade and moist, well-draining soil.
