'Wonderful Puya' is a drought-tolerant, clumping bromeliad that forms dense mounds and produces offsets (pups). It is native to the high elevations of the Andes mountains. Stiff, narrow, gray-green leaves with fine marginal teeth are arranged in a rosette form. Chartreuse-yellow, bell-shaped flowers are borne on tall spikes in summer, attracting hummingbirds. The rosettes reach about 10 to 12 inches tall and wide and the flower spikes can reach 1 to 5 feet tall. Puya mirabilis prefers full to mostly sun and well-draining, sandy soil. This bromeliad is low maintenance and can be used in rock gardens, xeriscapes, containers, and as a spiky accent plant. (Pot size: 3 gallon)
